Shirley Ann Reynolds
Shirley Ann Reynolds, age 82, passed away on Sept. 19, 2019, at her home in Kokomo. She was born on Sept. 20, 1936, in Milan, Indiana, to the late Harry and Thelma (Chambers) Lakey.
Shirley grew up on the south side of Indianapolis and graduated with the Class of 1954 from Southport High School. She had worked as a librarian at Indian Heights Elementary School from 1968 to 1975, and then served as a secretary to the superintendent at Taylor Community School Corp. from 1975 to 1999.
Shirley regularly attended both First Christian Church and Fairfield Christian Church of Kokomo. She enjoyed being around friends and would have scheduled lunches with them often. She was also an avid card player and loved to watch sports. More than anything, Shirley cherished her family, and she was at every sporting event and activity of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her children, Lisa (Larry) Griffin and Jimmy (Dawn) Reynolds; sisters, Joyce McClain and Audrey Littrell; brother, Wendell Lakey; grandchildren, Sara (Nick) Savoy, Kevin (Christina) Griffin, and Bryan Reynolds; and great-grandchildren, Alexis, Avery, Aiden, and Noah (her great-grandchildren all knew Shirley as "Gigi").
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in passing by her brother, Gene Lakey, and grandson, Michael Reynolds.
There will be a public visitation for Shirley held at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home on Tuesday, Sept. 24 from noon to 1:30 p.m., followed immediately by a funeral service. Shirley will then be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Community Foundation of Howard County (215 W. Sycamore St., Kokomo, IN 46901) for the GDTBA Tony Gabriel Scholarship Fund. Online donations can be made at Click on "give now" button and in the memo line indicate that your donation is for the Tony Gabriel Scholarship.

We were shocked to see the passing of Shirley. We remember the good times in little league and our trips to kings island after the season. Our sympathies are sent to all the family.
