Michael Edward Overholser, 65, Indiana, passed away Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018. Michael was born July 24, 1953 in Cripple Creek, Colorado, to William "Bill" Overholser and Ruth (King) Garity.

Michael graduated in Germany with the class of 1970. He enlisted in the Navy in 1972 and was honorably discharged in 1978. Michael was very musically talented. He wrote his own music and recorded several unpublished songs. He enjoyed playing the guitar and banjo, among other instruments. He had an amazing voice, and loved entertaining. He took pride in turning a fixer-upper into a place he called home, where he enjoyed cooking and gatherings with friends.

Michael is survived by his mother, Ruth; daughter Amanda (Ryan) Cowell; brother, Jeff Garity; three grandchildren; niece Dana; aunts, Linda and Jean; and special friends, Bob Riley and Robert Morris.

Those who preceded Michael in death were his father, Bill; brothers, Paul and Steven; and aunt, Mary.

A celebration of life will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018, at Ellers Mortuary, Webster Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St., with Bishop Dennis Marler officiating. Friends and family may gather 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., prior to the service. Burial with military honors will follow at Crown Point Cemetery. Everyone is invited to join the family for a meal at Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints following the graveside service.
