Woodlawn, VA - Michael Blatt, 74, of Woodlawn, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 30, after an extended illness.

Mike earned a B.A. in English at Wake Forest University in 1973, and he taught high school English and coached basketball and tennis in Sandersville, Georgia, and Jasper, Georgia. He then worked in insurance, but returned to teaching at KHS. He retired in 2014. Mike enjoyed sports writing and officiating youth sports.

He was predeceased by his parents, William and Sara Blatt; and his brother, Jim.

He is survived by his wife, Candace, his sons, Andrew and Sam; daughter-in-law, Mellina; granddaughters, Hazel, Eliana and Yara; and sister, Eleanor Wistrom.
