Linda Jean Bowser passed away Sunday, Dec. 22, 2019. Linda loved hiking, camping, gardening and being outdoors. In March - May 2018 at age 74, she hiked 200 miles of the Appalachian Trail - using the trail name "Redneck Mother!" She also enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, and all kinds of music from traditional country to classic rock. She was retired from working in social services for the State of Indiana.
Linda was born in Kittanning, Pennsylvania, to Alvin and Daisy Bowser on Dec. 13, 1943. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Betty Titus; brother-in-law, Sam Titus; sister-in-law, Juanita Shoup; daughter-in-law, Barbara Slagle; and granddaughter, Samantha. She is survived by her children (spouses), Marianne (Don) Burdison, Tommy Slagle, Robert "Billy" (Robin) Slagle, Joseph (AnnaMaria) Burd, and Lisa (Paul) Failor; grandchildren: Joe, Don David, Tiffany, Kristen, Josh B, Josh R, Patrick, Lauren, Adam, and Victoria; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Linda asked that we celebrate her life with a party rather than have a traditional viewing or funeral service. Family and friends will remember and celebrate her at the home of Marianne and Don Burdison, 10624 W. 100 South, Russiaville, Indiana, Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020, 4 to 8 p.m. All who knew Linda are welcome.
She requested that anyone wishing to do so should donate to St Jude Children's Hospital, Salvation Army or any charity serving children, in lieu of flowers.
Linda will be buried privately at Lawn Haven Estates in Worthington, Pennsylvania, near her father and mother.
