Greentown, IN. - Laura Anne (Gibson) Agness, 68, of Greentown, passed away unexpectedly 3:03 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2025, at her home.

She was born in Evergreen Park, Illinois, on Aug. 30, 1956, the daughter of the late Raymond and Betty (Lefler) Gibson. On April 24, 1976, she married Mark Agness, and he preceded her in death on May 24, 2010.

Laura was a 1974 graduate of Thornridge High School. She was employed by Country Plant and Garden in Greentown. She was later self-employed cleaning homes, and aided many families serving as caregiver to their loved ones in their final days. Laura had a caring, giving and considerate soul. She always put others before herself and looked for ways to care for and serve other people. Laura and Mark were true partners for 34 years, and their daughter was her pride and joy. Laura held a strong presence in the Greentown community and lived there for her entire adult life. She was a faithful member of Sycamore Friends Church. She enjoyed trips to Florida, was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and a card shark at Rummy.

She is survived by her daughter, Emily Agness; brothers, Dirk Gibson and his children Mitchell and Erica, Dean Gibson and son, Adam (Chelsea); mother-in-law, Charlotte Agness; sisters-in-law, Christine (Jim) Irwin, Bev Agness; nieces and nephews, Gary (Andrea) Agness, Justin (Courtney) Agness, Nick Agness, Holly Irwin, Brady (Jessica) Irwin, Ben (Chelsie) Irwin; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Dennis Gibson; nephew, Josh Agness; father-in-law, Dalton Agness; and brother-in-law, Greg Agness.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2025, at Hasler-Stout Funeral, 112 E. Main St., Greentown, IN 46936. A funeral service celebrating Laura's life will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in Laura's memory to Sycamore Friends Church.
