Joseph A. "Joe" D'Agostino, 48, Kokomo, died at 9:45 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, at Golden Living Center-Sycamore Village. He was born Oct. 18, 1964, in Joliet, Ill., the son of Paul and Nancy (Roark) D'Agostino. On Oct. 3, 1992, in Kokomo, he married the one true love of his life, Elizabeth Shanabarger, who survives.. Joe was a 1983 graduate of Haworth High School. After working several years at Delphi Electronics, he went to work for the Indiana Department of Transportation.. Joe had a special passion for horses. He owned, trained and showed them. He and his stallion, QT's Thunderstorm, were chosen to represent the APHA and Indiana Ranch Association a total of four times at the Hoosier Horse Fair. Joe also conducted several clinics using the relationship between man and horse to explain our relationship with the Lord.. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, PV2 Austin D'Agostino, U.S. Army; one daughter, Jessica D'Agostino, Kokomo; one stepson, Ryan Shanabarger, Kokomo; father, Paul D'Agostino, Kokomo; two brothers, Jarvis D'Agostino, Frankfort, and James Moore, Missouri; three sisters, Lisa Jacobs, Missouri, Elizabeth Omari, Florida and Gina D'Agostino of Kokomo.. He was preceded in death by his mother.. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, with Pastor John Bullock officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.. Messages of condolence may be left online at www.shirleyandstout.com.
