Windfall, IN - One of the kindest people you could ever meet, Joan M. Molino, 93, years old, went to her heavenly home on June 1, 2026. She was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, and lived the majority of her adult life in Greentown, Indiana.

Preceding her in death were her loving parents, Harold and Esther Rilea; her brother, Raymond; her birth parents, Margaret and Hans Grubnau; and beloved son, Kerry Molino.

In 1953, she married Daniel J. Molino, who also preceded her in death. Surviving are her children, Debra Starnes of Windfall, Indiana, and Sue (Charles) Treber of Saline, Michigan; eight grandchildren, Tabitha Treber, Chase (Alexandria) Starnes, Vincent and Victor Molino; Hannah, Madeline, Holly, and Aliza Treber; four great-grandchildren, Lucia and Charles Feeney; Cash and Dawson Starnes; and step-great-grandson Beckem Brown.

As a young girl nicknamed "Joanie Pony Macaroni," she enjoyed playing with her Scottish Terrier, Bonnie. While in school, she received the Best Citizen Award from the American Legion. She graduated from Denby High School in Detroit, where her artistic talent was recognized by her teachers. One of her fondest high school memories was cheering in the stands at football games.

After graduation, Joan excelled as a private secretary for an insurance company. She enjoyed meeting her best friend, Rosie Carnago during her lunch break, and the two often spent time window-shopping along Woodward Avenue in Detroit.

Following Dan's service in the Navy, they moved to Kokomo, Indiana, where they opened their family restaurant, Molino's Sycamore Village Inn, which introduced the first pizza delivery service in the area. They later started Blue Water Marine, a boat dealership. Joan went on to work for 15 years in the obstetrics department at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Kokomo. She felt deeply honored to care for so many mothers and their newborn babies.

Joan's lifelong faith was nurtured by her parents who faithfully took her to church throughout her childhood. She was a devoted member of the Wesleyan Church in Greentown, Indiana.

Joan was known for her beautiful handwriting, her soft and gentle voice, and her exceptional artistic talent as a painter. But most of all, anyone who knew Joan would say she was one of the kindest and sweetest people they had ever met, and this genuine quality left a lasting impression on all who were fortunate enough to know her. She had a natural way of making everyone feel special and loved with her quiet and pure spirit.

She loved beautiful music and enjoyed playing the piano. She also had a fondness for pretty clothes, the color pink, things that sparkled, and, of course, ice cream. Joan appreciated the beauty of nature and was perfectly content sitting outside, admiring the blue sky, fluffy white clouds, blooming flowers, and animals scampering about.

Joan had a wonderful sense of humor and loved being silly. Her joyful nature often led to contagious laughter that left everyone with tears rolling down their cheeks. Her zest for life was perhaps best demonstrated on her 83rd birthday, when she surprised everyone by buying herself a brand-new yellow convertible Camaro that she named Honeybee.

In her golden years, Joan continued to enjoy painting, crafting, working on crossword puzzles, sitting outside, and playing Bananagrams—a game her family affectionately renamed "BanaGramsie" in her honor. She adored her special companion, Tinkerbell, a Shih Tzu, but more than anything in life, Joan dearly loved and cherished her family.

Her family felt her unconditional love and unwavering support throughout their lives and will feel forever blessed to have had her as their mother and grandmother.

Friends are invited to visit the family from 5:30 pm to 7 pm on Friday June 12, 2026, at Hasler & Stout Funeral Home 112 E Main St., Greentown, and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. A funeral service celebrating Joan's life will take place at 2 pm on Saturday June 13, 2026, at the Greentown Wesleyan Church, 120 N Maple St, Greentown, with Pastor Eric Roemer officiating.
