Sims, Indiana - George R. Decker, 84, of Sims, passed away at 4:50 A.M. on Monday, April 6, 2026 at Community Hospital of Bremen, IN.

He was born on August 27, 1941, in Lafayette, IN, to the late Emmett and Cora (Graham) Decker.

George attended Klondike High School in West Lafayette, IN.

On May 17, 1969 he married Elaine Jennings in Lafayette, IN and she survives.

George worked as a brick mason for many years. He was a member of the Bricklayer Union Local #4.

George had a love of the outdoors, including wildlife, fishing, and hunting. He also enjoyed building and remodeling homes.

Surviving, along with his wife, Elaine, are his children Franklin Decker (Leslie Gokey), James Decker (Karen Frey), Kirsten Sargent, Jerri Brown (Pat), Rick Ostermeier; and his siblings Robert Decker (Melva), Jerry Decker, Sharon Bradford (Ferris), and Everett Decker.

George also leaves behind his ten grandchildren: Michael Ostermeier, Allix Ostermeier, Austin Decker, Liam Decker, Liam James Cavazos, Alexis Bradshaw, Madison Bradshaw, Caleb Brown, Anna Brown, and Eddie Payne.

George was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Paul Decker, Emmett Decker, and Marilyn Decker; his son, Ed Decker; and his grandson, Brandon Decker.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette. The service will be officiated by Pastor Mike Williams.

Interment will be at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette, IN.
