Garry Francis Day, 78, of Greentown, died at 4:25 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Ascension/St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo.
He was born Nov. 1, 1945, in Galveston, to Frank and Dorothy (Smith) Day. His stepmother was Phyllis Day.
Garry was a 1963 graduate of Kokomo High School and was a member of the sheet metal workers Local 20. He retired as shop foreman from Grave's Sheet Metal in Kokomo with over 30 years of service. His hobbies included fishing, gardening, hunting, bird watching and wine making. He also loved to travel.
Surviving family include his children, David R. (Jim Coblentz) Day of Indianapolis, Deborah Cooley of New Palestine and Patricia Day of Kokomo. Grandchildren include Zackary Myers of Washington, D.C., and Madison Myers, Ethan Day and Logan Day, all of Kokomo. Garry is also survived by two sisters, Becky Dieselburg of Kokomo and Pamela (Jeff) Vaughn of Fairview Heights, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother; sister, Janet Stahl; and son-in-law, Ted Cooley.
Visitation will be held Saturday from noon until service time at 2 p.m. at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Bill Collins officiating, and burial will follow in Galveston Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association or Charity of Donor's Choice.
