Everett Eugene Milligan
Everett Eugene Milligan, 92 years of age, went home to be with the Lord in the early hours of Monday, Sept. 2, 2019 at Century Villa, Greentown, Indiana. He was born on Oct. 10, 1926, in Kokomo, the son of Everett and Dorothy (Powell) Milligan. On Aug. 22, 1948, he married the love of his life, Kathryn "Kitty" Zirkle, who survives him, recently celebrating their 71st year anniversary.
He was a 1945 mid-term graduate of Kokomo High School. Ten days following graduation, he joined the U.S. Army. He actively served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater during World War II. For many years he was a member of Fairlawn UB Church/Morning Star Church. He served in several positions while there as a member of the board of trustees, head usher, Sunday school teacher, youth sponsor, and choir member. In recent years he attended First Church of the Nazarene, both in Kokomo and Florida.
After retirement they became Florida snowbirds for 34 years in Lady Lake, Florida. Upon his return from the U.S. Army, he returned to a job at Haynes Stellite. He worked there for 40 years and retired June 29, 1984. He was a 35-year member of their Quarter Century Club. Gene was a "jack of all trades," loved ice cream, M&Ms, popcorn, and watching IU basketball. He was the No. 1 Outstanding Fan at all activities possible of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Gene is survived by his wife, Kathryn "Kitty"; a brother, Ted Milligan; daughters, Cheryl (Duane) Keisling, Kokomo, Indiana, Pamela (Al) Baumgart, Chesterfield, Missouri; grandchildren, Monica (Tom) Everett, Matt (Kelly) Keisling, Greentown, Indiana, and Jonathan (Kristy) Baumgart, Wildwood, Missouri; great-grandchildren, Nathan and Megan Everett, Will, Reid and Kenzie Keisling, Kendall and Rylan Baumgart.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert Milligan; an infant sister; granddaughters, Michelle (Keisling) Goodnight and Alyssa Baumgart.
The family would like to thank the staff of Century Villa for their compassionate care of our loved one, as well as numerous support groups and persons who offered their nurturing services at any given moment of his care.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, 2019, at First Church of the Nazarene, 2734 S. Washington St., Kokomo, with Pastor Stan Zurcher officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church on Friday.

Sending our thoughts and prayers to The Milligan Family. Everett was my grandpa’s (Ted) brother. I only got to see Everett a few times growing up. I wish I could have gotten to know him better. I know grandpa will miss him dearly. Jeff and I are sending our love and prayers to the family.

At family gatherings Gene Milligan would fill the room with his presence. He loved his family and enjoyed being with them. He loved teasing his grandkids and great grandkids. He was very much interested and involved in what they had going on in their lives. When Men were discussing a project Gene knew the best way to get it done. He was a good and kind Man. He adored his wife. He will be missed.
