Dean L. Rule went to be with our Lord and Father July 12, 2018. He was born Feb. 3, 1926, at his home in Goshen, Indiana.

After he graduated from high school in 1944, he joined the U.S. Navy and served until the end of World War II. On April 13, 1948, he married Myrna J. Meloy. She preceded him in death January of 2016.

Dean taught school for over 40 years until he retired in 1991 after teaching for the Kokomo School Corp. since 1964. He was a longtime member of the Church of the Brethren of Kokomo.

Dean loved nature. He was an avid hiker, camper, and naturalist. He loved canoeing in the Boundary Waters of Minnesota. He also enjoyed spelunking in caves throughout southern Indiana. He loved to share these experiences with family and friends.

Surviving are three sons, Steven and Jolene Rule, of Greentown, Michael Rule, of Kokomo, and Timothy Rule, of Bloomington, Illinois; four grandchildren, Zachariah, Nicholas, Joshua, and Logan Rule; and seven great-grandchildren.

Per his request, there will be no funeral. A graveside service will be held at a later date in Goshen, Indiana.

Dean touched the lives of many people. He will be deeply missed by family and friends. May he find peace and comfort.
