William's Story

Text size

William H. Jones, 79, Kokomo, passed away peacefully at his home at 3:10 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2017, with his loving sons by his side. He was born Feb. 4, 1938, to Kenneth and Nellie (King) Jones in Frankfort. Bill's greatest joy in life were his twin sons, Adam and Alex. Just the mention of their names brought him smiles and comfort. There are no words to express what an amazing and caring "Papa" he was.
In 1956, he enlisted with the US Marines, where he served two years at the 29 Palms base in California. Following an honorable discharge, he served four years with the 9th Marine Corps Reserve and recruitment district. He went on to work a dedicated 42 years in the Chrysler diecast plant.
Bill's greatest passion was music. He took great pride in his collection of records and jukeboxes and will be remembered for his singing voice, storytelling and huge personality. His unwavering optimism touched all who had the fortune of knowing him.
Bill spent his final years with his fiancee, Rosie, by his side. Together they traveled the country, from Florida to the west coast and many trips to see his beloved Chicago Cubs. He waited all his life for a Cubs championship and finally got it in 2016. About time!
He is survived by his sons, Adam Jones, Washington, and Alex Jones, California; sister, Yvonne Unroe, Frankfort; nieces and nephews, Corby Unroe, Tony Reddington, Russell Jones, Lynn Coons and Michelle Craig; fiancee, Rosetta Harmon, Frankfort; and many great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Jones Jr.; and sister, Jan Reddington.
At Bill's request, there will be no visitation or services. Arrangements and cremation will be handled by the Goodwin Funeral Home. Please visit goodwinfuneralhome.com to share a memory with the family.

I've traveled each and every highway,
But more, much more than this,
I did it my way"
