Theresa A. Rice, 71, West Middleton, passed away at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born April 8, 1946, in Kokomo to the late Peter S. and Martha (Walker) Gabriel. She was married on June 26, 2004, to Marc Rice, who survives.
Theresa attended Kokomo High School. She was a former member of Carpenter House and member of Abundant Life Church. For several years she worked for Village Pantry, and was honored one year as Employee of the Year. For the last 27 years, she had worked for Rice Tree Co. in West Middleton.
Survivors include her husband, Marc; children, Jane (Sean) Hayes, David (Shannon) Murphy, and Michael (Brandy) Rice; grandchildren, Brandi Lawson, Brianna Murphy, Ashlie Murphy, Madison Rice, Michael Rice, and Hannah Hayes; great-grandchild, Brayden Lawson; a brother, Bruce Gabriel; brother-in-law, Jeffery Rice; sister-in-law, Sandy (Craig) Winningham; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Sharon "Suze" (Gary) Jackson; sister, Hannah Rouse; brother, Jim Gabriel; granddaughter, Abigail Hayes; a nephew, Chris Jackson; two nieces, Martha Michelle Jackson, and Marianne Jackson; two great-nephews, Joshua W. Rouse and Chad Nicholas Rouse; sister-in-law, Barbara Gabriel; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Bonnie and Paul Rice.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2017, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, with Pastor Charlie Riley and Pastor Paul Sutherland officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, also at the funeral home.
