Sherman Mack "Slim" Hicks, 70, Sebring, Florida, formerly of Kokomo, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Florida Hospital in Sebring. Slim was born in Batesville, Mississippi, on Feb. 14, 1947, to Alfred and Lucille (Ford) Hicks.
He was a member of UAW 685, Moose and Eagles. He enjoyed fishing and casinos. He formally worked at 7-Up Bottling Co. in Kokomo then Chrysler, where he retired after 30 years. After retirement, he hauled camping trailers in Indiana and palm trees in Florida.
Survivors include his significant other, Libby Riddle; two sons, Terry (Stacy) Hicks, Kokomo, Brian Hicks, Bunker Hill; five grandchildren, Tony Galloway, Anderson, Paige Hicks, Riceville, Tennessee, Oakley Hicks, Riceville, Tennessee, Cody Hicks, Bunker Hill, Trevor Hicks, Kokomo; two great-grandchildren, Hunter Hicks and Riley Hicks, Riceville, Tennessee; one sister, Ethel Huston.
He was preceded in death by his father; mother; brothers, Jimmy, F.M., J.P.; sister, Mary Cole; and brother-in-law, Wayne Huston.
There will be a celebration of life for Slim at 6 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2017, at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home in Sebring, with W. Mike Adams officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 5 p.m.
