Ruth M. Emery, 86, Huntington, passed away at 6:20 p.m. Friday, April 7, 2017, at the Heritage of Huntington.
Ruth was a 1949 graduate of Kokomo High School. She played softball with the Highway Queens Traveling Softball Team and won several championships. She had worked as a printing press operator and then supervisor at Noll Printing/Our Sunday Visitor for 37 years before her retirement in 1993. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Ruth enjoyed all kinds of sports, including bowling and golf.
Ruth was born Feb. 7, 1931, in Kokomo, the daughter of George W. and Nina M. (Williams) Emery.
Survivors include a brother, Vernon (Coke) Emery, Kokomo; a niece, Carol (Frank) Ortman, Kokomo, who was honored to help Ruth throughout her life; three nephews, Vernon Jr. (Peg) Emery, Jim (Joyce) Alexander and Jeff (Sandy) Emery, all of Kokomo; and several great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister and brother-in-law, Wanita (Charles) Alexander; and a close friend (of 62 years), Marie Campbell.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 840 Cherry St., Huntington, Indiana. There will be one hour of visitation from 9 to 10 am prior to the services at the church. The Rev. Father Silvino Ndayambaje will officiate. Interment will be at the Mount Calvary Cemetery.
