Robert H. Skaggs, 85, Kokomo, passed away surrounded by his family at 8:20 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017, at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis. He was born March 10, 1931, in Indianapolis, the son of the late George H. and Augusta (Pasch) Skaggs. On May 27, 1961, he married Glenda F. Price, and she survives.
Robert was a 1949 graduate of Ben Davis High School, Indianapolis. He retired in 1996 from General Motors after 35 years of service as a tool and die mold maker and tool room supervisor. After retirement, Robert spent 20 years working alongside his son at Moonlight Mold & Machine. He was a 63-year member of Naphtali F&AM Lodge 389, the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, the Murat Shrine, and was a former member of the Ibn Saud Grotto. Robert was a great father, role model and was liked and well-respected. He enjoyed reading, woodworking, fishing and going to work in his trade.
Robert is survived by his wife, Glenda F. Skaggs, Kokomo; sons, Jeffrey L. (Nicole) Skaggs, Kokomo, and Timothy G. (Tamara) Skaggs, Russiaville; grandchildren, Christine L. Skaggs, Catherine E. Skaggs, Shelby T. Skaggs, Nicholas S. Kline and James D. Kline; and sister, Dorothy Ratcliff, Greenwood.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, George W. Skaggs.
Masonic services for Robert will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road. Burial will follow in Sharpsville Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
