Richard "Dick" L. Irwin, 69, Kokomo, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017, at Community Howard Regional Hospital. He was born Aug. 28, 1947, in Kokomo, to James E. and Opal (Denison) Irwin.
Dick graduated from Kokomo High School in 1965. He was an entrepreneur from an early age with a great work ethic, and he was the owner of several businesses throughout his life, including Kokomo Bargain Center, Off-Price World and KMB Enterprises. Dick had a great sense of humor, could make anyone smile without fail and had an affectionate nickname for those close to him. He was passionate about his eBay business and enjoyed Nascar Racing, NBA Basketball, working in his yard and at one time he had a sizable classic car collection. He loved his family and cherished spending time with his grandkids and attending their sporting events.
He is survived by his children, Bart (Nicole) Irwin, Kokomo, Michelle Irwin, Kokomo, and Kacy Irwin, Chicago; two grandchildren, Payton and Kylie Irwin; sister, Janice (Moe) Sprong; half-sister, Lisa (Bill) Bandelier; stepbrother, Steve (Candy Flynn) Turner; stepsister, Dana (Don Nesvig) Bolinger; sister-in-law, Kathy Irwin; his first wife and mother of Bart and Michelle, Wanda Johnson; second wife and mother of Kacy, Janelle Ross; and special friend, Faith Hulet.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Irwin; and sisters, Norma Jean Harpst, Marlene Pat Sokol and Judy Strasser.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, with Pastor Ron Meyer officiating. Private burial will take place at a later date in Albright Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
