R.D. Johnson, 86, passed away Monday, March 13, 2017. He was born July 2, 1930, to Johnnie and Lula (Cox) Johnson in the city of Ripley, Mississippi.
R.D. worked for and in 1976 retired from Marion Malleable Ironworks Inc., Marion. He joined Second Missionary Baptist Church, where he served in various capacities, including senior usher, Trustee Board, Pastor Aid Committee, Pastoral Search Committee, Drama Club, Mass Choir, Brotherhood, Agape Players, Men's Chorus, Prayer Band and Deacon Board (of which at one time he was chairman). Of his many loves of life, he most enjoyed barbecuing for his family and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
He will be forever missed but lovingly cherished by his wife, Bessie Ann Johnson; sons, Ricky Antonelli, Reginald D. (Sherri) and Demetrius D. (Karen) Johnson, all of Kokomo; daughter, Brenda R. (Troy) Walker, Kokomo; brother, Edward Johnson, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Dondre, Brandon, Kelisha, Torrey, Shanel, Ashley, Kegan, Jairus, Jerell, Jordan and Kelby; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 18, at Second Missionary Baptist Church, with calling from 8 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in Crown Point Cemetery.
Arrangements were entrusted to Bluitt and Son Funeral Home.
