Paul Edward Rinehart, 94, Kokomo, was surrounded by family when he passed away at 4:58 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017, at Legacy of Waterford in Kokomo. He was born Sept. 22, 1923, in Howard County, the son of the late Ross and Lucille (Mason) Rinehart. On Feb. 18, 1944, he married Jo Ann Ingels and she survives.
Paul was a 1940 graduate of Ervin Township High School. He served with the United States Army during World War II and earned the rank of corporal. Paul was a retired farmer and was a member of Judson Baptist Church, the American Legion and Green Acres Golf Club.
Paul is survived by his son, Mark E. (Wendy) Rinehart, Hamilton, Ohio; daughters, Pamela Jo (Dennis) Massengill, Punta Gorda, Florida, Gail (Kurt) Daggett, Galveston, Gwen (Cecil) Harp, Marietta, Georgia; eight grandchildren, Marnie Cornell, Andy Mulis, Annie Bean, Kyle Rinehart, Erin Elhard, Rachael Webb, JC Webb and Kelly Brown; 15 great-grandchildren; and sister, Virginia "Jenni" Prifogle, Kokomo.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Ross and Lucille Rinehart; sisters, Nina Rinehart, Marilyn Rinehart, Maxine Kirby; brothers, Mason Rinehart, Bud Rinhart; grandson, Ryan Massengill.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, 2017, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St. Russiaville, with Pastor Ken Freeland officiating. Burial will follow in South Union Cemetery with military honors. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
