Neil R. Puterbaugh, 78, Kokomo, passed away at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at Community Hospital North, Indianapolis. Born June 3, 1938, in Peru, he was the son of the late Harvey Puterbaugh and Dorothy Pauline (Shanks) Puterbaugh.
He was a veteran serving in the United States Marine Corps from 1959 to 1963. He was employed with Chrysler as a jobsetter, retiring after 30 years of service. He was a member of U.A.W. Local 685 and lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and was a Cubs, Bears, and Colts fan. He liked listening to the news and was known as "Bro" and "the Cuz."
He was survived by his children, Neil Jr., Whitney, Kirk, Rebecca and Jennifer; his brother, Nelson Puterbaugh, San Bernardino, California; his sister, Karen Kay (Robert) Rhodes, Kokomo; his lifetime companion, Eunice Puterbaugh, West Palm Beach, Florida; grandchildren, Abigail, Michael, Mikayla, Caryanne, Joey, Josh, Rachel, Noah, Leah, Cody and Jacob; and a host of family and friends.
Neil was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dale Puterbaugh; two infant brothers; one nephew, Kristopher Puterbaugh; and one sister-in-law, Alice Puterbaugh.
Graveside services and military rites will be conducted by Pastors Jeff Newton and Jonathon Newton, the United States Marine Corps and the Kokomo Military Rites Team at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 2017, at Sunset Memory Gardens, Kokomo. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Ellers Mortuary, Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S.
