Marjorie L. Longshore, 92, Kokomo, died at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Waterford Place. She was born Dec. 22, 1924, in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of the late Claude H. and Pauline (Hayes) Fisher. On June 1, 1951, at Grace Methodist Church in Kokomo, she married Carl D. "C.D." Longshore Jr., and he died Oct. 15, 1997.
Marjorie lived in the same home on Conradt Avenue for 84 years and only left last year when she became a resident of Waterford Place.
Marjorie was a 1942 graduate of Kokomo High School and a 1946 graduate of Indiana University, where she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. She taught kindergarten in Kokomo before becoming a stay-at-home mom to her son, Robert B. "Chip" Longshore. She helped with Girl Scouts and served as a leader. She was a lifelong member of First Congregational Christian Church, where she served on many boards and committees. She and her husband also sang in the church choir for 36 years. Marjorie volunteered at the Nearly New Shop, a mission of the church. She and her husband had volunteered for Meals on Wheels. Marjorie was a 50-year-plus member (a Golden Girl) of the PEO sisterhood, BW Chapter. She especially loved her cats and always had one or more in her home. She enjoyed the arts and attending Indiana Repertory Theater. Going to flea markets and antique shows were favorite pastimes, as well as spending time with family and friends. Marjorie was a gracious and stylish lady who had a fun sense of humor.
She is survived by her son, Robert B. "Chip" Longshore, and one sister-in-law, Julia Longshore, both of Kokomo, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service celebrating Marjorie's life will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 20, 2017, at First Congregational Christian Church, 505 W. Mulberry St., with Pastor Jon Tice officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until time of service. Private burial will take place in Kokomo Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church, the Kokomo Humane Society, and/or the American Heart Association. Shirley & Stout Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
