Leva Sue Martin, 80, Kokomo, went to be with her Lord and Savior in heaven Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017. Leva was born Aug. 24, 1936, in Tazewell, Tennessee, to her parents, John and Ollie Meyers (Mabe).
She is survived by her children, Debra Chatman, Marcia (Rudy) Cavazos, Regina (Mark) Terrell, Elizabeth Jones, and Janet (Dan) Jester; brother, Claude Meyers; sister Oma Lee (Al) Silence; grandchildren, Christina Ellis, S. Adam (Rhonda) Novinger, Ashley (Garry) Curella, Ivy Cavazos, Sosha (Jonathan) Bulger, Jordan Martin, Derek Gilbert, Ashton Chatman, Madison Chatman, Joshua Jones, Arielle Jones, Julian Jester, Alex (Treva) Jester, and Eric Jester. She is also survived by 20 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Leva retired from General Motors after a career spanning 34 years, during which time she was active in UAW Local 292. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and watching movies with the grandchildren. She was blessed with the gift of music and played several instruments by ear. She played the piano beautifully. Playing music and singing with her family was a favorite pastime enjoyed by everyone.
Leva cherished her entire family as they were her world, and they will miss her the most.
She was preceded in death by parents; sister-in-law, Carolyn Meyers; brother, Fate (Dorothy) Meyers; sisters, Anna Mae Love, Nellie (Robert) Hoffman, Inez (Vasco) Kitts, and Christine (Robert) Louks.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 3, with visitation beginning at 11 a.m., all at Ellers Mortuary, 3400 S. Webster St., with Pastor S. Adam Novinger officiating. Interment will follow services at Crown Point Cemetery.
