Lawrence Davies Hedges passed away Monday, June 26, 2017, in Kokomo. He was born Jan. 26, 1943, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada to Thomas Henry and Mary (Davies) Hedges.
Larry immigrated to the United States legally in September 1962 and joined the United States Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was discharged honorably in 1965 and moved to Indiana. He worked at Chrysler from 1968 until 1998. He was a long-time member of Post 6 American Legion, being a two-time commander and adjutant for three years. Larry enjoyed playing golf at the Legion and spending time with family.
He is survived by his wife and best friend, Betty; stepsons, Kirk Amos and his wife Melissa, and Clarke Hedges and his partner Ruth Flores; six grandchildren, Chris, James, and Miranda Burton, Maxx, Samuel and Maizy Amos; two rescued cats named Luck and Dink; two loving nieces, Jan and her husband, Dan Wait, Heber City, Utah, and Deb and her husband, Mike Gay, Palmer Lake, Colorado; and a wonderful nephew, Tom and his wife, Karen of Bramton, Ontario, Canada.
Larry was preceded in death by his mother and father; brothers, Herb and Tom; son, Lawrence Kent Hedges; and stepdaughter, Lori Davis.
A Celebration of Life is planned for 1 to 3 p.m. July 30. The program begins at 1:15 p.m. at the Post 6 American Legion in Kokomo.
