LaWana R. Ballenger, 87, of Kokomo, passed away at 6:05 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2017, at her home. She was born Dec. 31, 1929, in Richmond, Indiana, to Everett and Edna (Evans) Pickett. She married William R. Ballenger on Nov. 4, 1950, and he preceded her in death Dec. 12, 1996.
LaWana retired from Delco Electronics with several years' service. Prior to Delco she also worked for Haynes International. She was a member of the Judson Road Christian Church. She enjoyed counted cross stich.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Kim Ballenger of Kokomo. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2017, at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston with Rev. Randy Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens in Kokomo. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston.
