Larry's Story

Larry Lee Langley, 80, Elwood, passed away at 12:45 a.m. Monday, Sept. 18, 2017, at Community Parkview Health & Living in Elwood. He was born July 5, 1937, in Nevada, Indiana, the son of the late Eugene W. and Vera (Coverdale) Langley.
Larry was a 1955 graduate of Eastern High School. He was a retired farmer, and had also worked for Shepard Tool & Die, and Essex Wire Co. in Elwood. He attended Harmony Christian Church, and never knew a stranger. Larry enjoyed going to his grandchildren's many activities and talking with his friends. He often attended cattle shows and beef industry events across the United States.
Larry is survived by his children, Craig (Wendi) Langley, and Jody (Tim) Leas; grandchildren, Jenna (Isaac) Blue, Brooke Langley, Eric Leas, Todd (Laura) Leas, Haley Leas (fiance, Andrew Mahan); loving companion, Charline Webb, and her family, Randy (Pam) Webb, Candy (Rick) Dickey, and Stacy Wittkamper; eight grandchildren, Kyle Dickey, Craig Dickey, Chad Dickey, Andrew Webb, Katie Jaran, Kristi Sage, Brandon Orr, Blake Wittkamper; six great-grandchildren; brother, James (Bobbette) Harper; several nieces and nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Vera (Coverdale) Harper and Eugene Langley; brother, Phillip Langley; and stepfather, Victor Harper.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, at Harmony Christian Church, 9043 W. 1800 North, Elwood, with Ron Meyer officiating. Burial will follow in Nevada Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made in Larry's memory to Madison County 4-H Association Building Fund, or to the Harmony Christian Church for the Ark Church Camp, or to the Alabama Organ Center, 502 20th St. S., Birmingham, AL 35233, make checks payable to AOC/UAB Education Fund.
