L. Maxine Bostic, 94, Kokomo, passed away at 8:32 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2017, surrounded by her family at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo. She was born Feb. 9, 1923, in Logansport, to Tony and Clara (Ammerman) Gunnell. On June 18, 1941, she married Raymond Bostic, Sr., and he preceded her in death on Sept. 3, 1987.
Maxine graduated from Kokomo High School. She was a homemaker and a devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed playing euchre, bingo and dominoes with her friends and family, and she loved her church families at First Baptist Church and Fairview Baptist Church where she was a member. She was also a member of the 49ers Homemakers Club.
She is survived by her sons, Raymond (Nancy) Bostic, Jr., Kokomo, and Charles (Nila) Bostic, Swayzee; daughters, Pam (Jake) Porter, Shelbyville, and Patti (John) O'Donnell, Kokomo; brother and sister-in-law, Phil and Glenda Bostic, Kokomo; special friend, Jenny (Carl who is deceased) Prifogle; 19 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and eleven great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Lawrence Gunnell, Charles Gunnell and Richard Gunnell; sisters, Annabelle Freeman and Grace Alice Hiatt; and a grandchild.
The family wishes to give special thanks to Primrose for their loving care of Maxine for the past two years.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Fairview Baptist Church, 2108 E. Vaile Ave., with Pastor Steve Sherwood officiating. Burial will follow in South Union Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.
