Karleen Kay Huneck (Bitterman), 82, Greentown, passed away peacefully at home Friday, March 24, 2017. She was born Oct. 3, 1934, in Lansing, Michigan, to her parents, Sylvester and Viola Bitterman (Heart)
Karleen was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Tommy Bitterman.
Karleen loved life and was an active member of the International Sierra Club, Indianapolis Hiking Club, Central Indiana Wilderness Club, Hoosier Backpacking Club, Central Indiana Bicycle Club, and the Potato Soup Club. She had a passion for giving back to others, which included volunteer work with the Women's Shelter and the Girl Scouts. Karleen worked in nursing for many years after graduating from Indiana University in 1986. She loved spending time with her entire family but especially her five beautiful children.
Karleen is survived by her adoring children, Kevin (Debbie) Huneck, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Gary Huneck, Noblesville, Jim (Crison) Huneck, Kokomo, Kathy (Wes) Dunnuck, Columbia, South Carolina, and Kara (James) Kaufman, Greentown; sister, Judith Rodosa, Chesaning, Michigan. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kyle, Brandon, and Kameron Dunnuck, Kristen Huneck, and Marisa Hernandez, and great-grandchild, Isabella Hernandez.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday March 31, with visitation one hour prior and from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 30, all at Ellers Mortuary, 3400 S. Webster St., with Pastor Lynn Coleman officiating. Interment will follow at Albright Cemetery.
