Karl Walter Leisure, 84, Kokomo, passed away at 4:10 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2017, at St. Vincent Kokomo. He was born Feb. 21, 1933, in Kokomo, to Peter Orman Leisure and Grace Esther (Bennette) Leisure. On Dec. 24, 1952, at his parents' home in Kokomo, he married Sue Ann (Shelby) Leisure. She preceded him in death Sept. 26, 1982.
He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He worked for Cuneo Press as a press operator, and worked in maintenance for Carnation in Kokomo and the Howard County Courthouse. He was a member of the VFW Post 1152. Karl enjoyed working on cars and NASCAR.
Survivors include a son, Karl Leisure Jr. and companion Iris Lewellen, both of Kokomo; daughter, Sharon Voiles and husband Ernest, Kokomo; son, Peter Leisure, Alma, Michigan; daughter, Esther Heath and husband Ernie, Kokomo; daughter, Pamela Ashbrook and husband Rodney, Kokomo; daughter, Lisa Bayliff and husband Danny, Kokomo; daughter, Anita Seekell and fiance Wes Wesley Stebbins, both of Kokomo; sister, Linda Schultz and husband Richard, Sheboygan, Wisconsin; sister-in-law, Helen Jane Spice and husband Richard, Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Jennifer Voiles and fiance James White, Christopher Voiles and wife Victoria, Peter Leisure II, Georgianna Marie Leisure, Brooke Leisure, Brandon Leisure, Carrie Leisure, Chad Heath and wife Amanda, Shelly Lennen and companion Micah Babcock, Duane A. Wysong, Rodney Ashbrook II, Ashley Castle and companion Thomas Mass, Adam Beheler and wife Shanika, Andrew Beheler, Andrea Bayliff, Brandi Sise and husband Jorge, Steven Seekell, and Michael Seekell; 26 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; granddaughter, Miranda Sue Leisure; six sisters; and two brothers.
The funeral service will be at noon Friday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, with Pastor Mark Watkins officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery, with military honors to be provided by the United States Air Force and the Kokomo VFW Military Rites Team. Friends are invited to visit from 10 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the funeral home.
