Karen Elizabeth (Anders) Metz, 36, Kokomo, passed away at 9:31 a.m. Sunday, June 11, 2017, at St. Vincent Kokomo. She was born May 4, 1981, in Kokomo, the daughter of Peter H. and Elizabeth A. (Sweeney) Anders. On April 11, 2009, she married Andrew A. Metz, and he survives.
Karen attended Kokomo High School, graduating in 1999. She attended Ivy Tech Community College, and Indiana University Kokomo. She had worked as a substitute teacher's assistant for Petit Park School, and for Bowden Flowers. Karen was a member of Judson Road Christian Church, where she volunteered with the nursery and toddler rooms, and helped with crafts during vacation Bible school. Karen was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. Karen's love of people and her creativity could be seen as she helped her friends and family arrange parties and their weddings. She enjoyed helping create long-lasting memories.
Karen is survived by her husband, Andrew A. Metz, Kokomo; daughter-in-love, Abigail Metz, and her daughter, Sofia Metz; parents, Peter and Elizabeth Anders; maternal grandfather, Gene Sweeney; brothers, Peter Anders and Paul Anders; nieces and nephews, Audia Anders, Cree Anders, and Angelo Anders; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Karen was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Anita M. Sweeney, and paternal grandparents, Anni C. and Rudolf F. Anders.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 16, 2017, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Pastor William Allison officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
