Janet Naomi Pyke, 79, Sellersburg, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at Maple Manor Christian Home in Sellersburg. She was born Sept. 25, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan, to John Leroy and Marcella Marie (Pierce) Turner. Due to her mother's death, she was raised at a young age by John and Nanny Turner and Earl and Mildred McClone and later by her father and stepmother, Kay Turner. She married Paul E. Pyke, and he preceded her in death on March 20, 1978.
Janet graduated in 1955 from Greentown High School, where she was a member of the choir. She went on to graduate from LPN school and worked as a nurse until her retirement. She loved country music and enjoyed swimming and playing piano. She cherished her family, kids and grandkids and enjoyed playing cards with them. She was a member of Four Square and Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by her son, Rick (Becky) Pyke, Henryville; daughters, Marci (Steve) Calloway, Henryville, and Kerri (Mark) Pyke-Jandt; grandchildren, April and Josh, Aaron, Bradley and Haley, Ashley, Hunter, Emma, Oakley, and Elly Olivia; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Clayton and Baylen; brothers, David and Larry; sisters, Sharon, Wanda, Nioma, Betty and Delores; and best friend, Janie Witt.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Junior, Bill, Jim and Jerry; and sisters, Barbra and Elanor.
The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 27, 2017, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit from noon until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.
