Janet Lou (Bolen) Smith, 81, Macy, passed away at 8:35 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017, at her home. She was born Feb. 11, 1936, in Frankfort, the daughter of the late Doyle M. & Louise (Corns) Bolen. On Feb. 7, 1953, she married James Donald Smith who preceded her in death on May 1, 2001.
Janet worked for Wilson Foods in Logansport for 17 years. She enjoyed crafts, and going to flea markets, but especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her dog "Shorty". Janet also volunteered at Daystar Life Center in Brooksville, Florida.
Janet is survived by her children, Dagna (Jim) Helvig, Thresha "Tink" (Rick) Roberts, and Daniel (Kim) Smith; grandchildren, Chuck (Missy) Wainwright, Clint (Shila) Roberts, Chet (Barb) Roberts, Dawn (Mike) Trigg, Jack (Ashley) Smith, Jimmy (Taya) Hardacre, and Jason Hardacre, along with 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; sister, Dixie Diane Bolen; and brother, John (Bobbi) Bolen.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Debra K. Hardacre, and grandson, Chris Wainwright, along with nine siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday July 13, 2017, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, Jefferson Street Chapel, 414 West Jefferson Street, Kokomo with Pastor Eric Catron officiating. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11 to 1 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
