James D. Orem, 76, Michigantown, passed away at 1:35 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017, at Clinton House Health Care in Frankfort. He was born Jan. 24, 1941, in Sedalia, Indiana. He was adopted at the age of 5, becoming the son of Charles Dwight and Ruby Lorene (Knight) Orem.
James was a 1959 graduate of Forest High School. He served in the Army National Guard. James retired from CNF Industry after 10 years of service as a security guard, and was a member of Union Baptist Church in Forest. He loved his children, grandchildren, and riding his Gator.
James is survived by his children, Dan (Vicky) Orem, Lafayette, Chris (Christy) Orem, Attica, Jim (Ginger) Orem, North Pole, Alaska, and Teresa (Tony) Snyder, Frankfort; 12 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren; siblings, Ted (Sue) Orem, Forest, Ruth Cook, Logansport, Charlene (Bill) Henderson, Young America, Carol (Charles "Ted") Ply, Kalamazoo, Michigan, Fay (Dale) Charleston, Cassopolis, Michigan, and Eva Denizel, Bunker Hill.
James was preceded in death by his parents, and granddaughter, Larissa Ann Orem.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29, 2017, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville. Burial will follow in Russiaville Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
