Irven J. Myers, 97, formerly of Amboy, passed away at 7:55 p.m. Sunday, April 16, 2017, at Miller's Merry Manor in Peru. He was born in Kokomo on Sept. 30, 1919, the son of Jacob and Anna Metzler Myers. Irven married Virginia Ann DeFord in Peru on Jan. 17, 1943, and she survives.
Irven was a member of the Amboy United Methodist Church and a retired carpenter. He enjoyed gardening, camping and fishing. He loved country gospel music and was an accomplished musician, playing the organ, piano and keyboard.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Virginia, are sons, Dennis Myers and wife Penny, Leesburg, and Dale Myers and wife Rose Marie, Amboy; a brother, Clyde Myers, Amboy; grandchildren, Larry Myers, Kay Long, Lonnie Myers and Rex Myers, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and nine brothers.
A service celebrating the life of Irven J. Myers will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2017, at Laird-Eddy Funeral Home, 201 N. Main St., Amboy, with Pastor Jim Miller and Pastor Randy Smoot officiating. Burial will be in Clymer Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Laird-Eddy Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to Amboy United Methodist Church.
