Helen Joann Stahl Hickman, 88, Greentown, passed away at 7:10 p.m., Tuesday, May 30, 2017, in Century Villa Healthcare, Greentown. She was born Aug. 18, 1929, to Francis (Dutch) and Violet Stahl. On Nov. 19, 1946, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, she married Thomas Francis Hickman, with whom she had two children, Mark Allen and Deborah Elaine DeHaven. He preceded her in death on March 5, 2006.
She is survived by daughter, Deborah (Leon) DeHaven, Marthasville, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Barbara Hickman, Greentown; four grandchildren, Patrick (Katy) DeHaven, Ballwin, Missouri, Laura (Jason) Vahle, St. Peters, Missouri, Tamara Hickman, Kokomo, and Brent (Leslie) Hickman, Greentown; six great-grandchildren, Jerry Vahle, Benjamin Vahle, Alivia Vahle, Nicholas DeHaven, Audrey DeHaven, and Levi Hickman.
She had a winter home in Bradenton, Florida, for 25 years. She belonged to the Home Economics Club for 70 years, Research Club for 52 years, various travel clubs for 30 years, and bridge club for 60 years. She visited all 50 states and traveled the world, and especially loved China. She was also a charter member of the Greentown Historical Society. She loved her family dearly.
Helen was preceded in death by husband, Thomas Hickman; son, Mark Hickman; her parents, Francis and Violet Stahl; and brother, Phillip Stahl.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Hasler & Stout Funeral Home, 112 E. Main St., Greentown. Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, with a half hour of calling before the service at 3 p.m. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Greentown.
