Hazel Heck, Century Villa Health Care in Greentown, Indiana, passed from her 105-year journey on this earth and was welcomed by her Savior into her eternal reward Friday, April 21, 2017. She was born Nov. 4, 1911, to Earl and Ethel Johnson at their Howard County home.
A graduate of Jackson Township High School, she married Paul C. Heck on June 20, 1932, and thereafter devoted herself to being a wife, homemaker, mother and grandmother on their Howard County farm until she moved to Century Fields/Villa three years ago. Among her many pastimes, besides her family, she thoroughly enjoyed gardening, reading, and watching sports on television (with basketball and football alternating as her "favorites"). A lifelong member of the Converse Church of Christ, Hazel played flute in the church orchestra and served as a pianist for many years. In addition, she taught private piano lessons in her home.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul (1994), infant daughter Anita Earline (1936), infant sister Lois Johnson (1905), and sister Ferne Middlesworth (2005).
She is survived by her son, Billy Paul (Lisa) Heck; her grandchildren, Andrew (Christina) Heck, Peter (Jenny) Heck, and Katy (Austin) Smith; as well as her five great-grandchildren, Emily, Ethan, Addison, Bristol, and Grayson Heck.
Services will be at Hasler-Stout Funeral Home, 112 E. Main St., Greentown. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and the funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, followed by internment at the Converse Cemetery.
