Harry M. Swick Jr., 93, passed away Friday, May 5, 2017, at North Woods Village in Kokomo. He was born in Danville, Illinois, on Sept. 18, 1923, to the late Harry Swick Sr. and Josephine (Skinner) Swick.
Following high school in Danville, Harry enlisted in the United States Navy and served honorably during World War II. After his service to his country, Harry moved to Kokomo and worked as a supervisor for General Motors for over 30 years, retiring in 1980.
Harry was an active member of Jerome Christian Church in Greentown. He was also a Mason member and enjoyed fishing, painting and woodworking. He married his present wife, Roberta, on Jan. 28, 1980, and she survives.
In addition to his wife, Harry is survived by two sons, John (Pam) Swick and James (Julie) Swick Sr.; a daughter, Susan (Dale) Raines; two stepsons, Terry Hedrick and Stephen (Pam) Hedrick; a stepdaughter, Rebecca Hulet; a sister, Patty Huffman; grandchildren, Doug Raines, Scott Raines, Todd Raines, James Swick Jr., Amber Swick, Mason Swick, Mark (Amber) Swick, Kelly (Danny) Bowman, Angela (Jim) Richason and Michelle (Scott) Schroeter; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
A visitation for Harry will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home in Kokomo. There will be a funeral service at the funeral home at 11 a.m. May 10, and then Harry will be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery with military honors.
