Harlan "Skip" DeBolt Jr., 81, Peru, passed away at 12:15 a.m. Sunday, May 28, 2017, at Waterford Health Campus in Kokomo. He was born Sept. 9, 1935, in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, to Harlan DeBolt Sr. and Jean Beverley (Williams) DeBolt. On May 7, 1960, in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, he married Frances "Fran" Steiner. She preceded him in death March 2, 2004.
He received his master's degree in history from Waynesburg College in Pennsylvania. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was in flight training to become a pilot. He retired from Delco Electronics in 1990 after 34 years of service, and he was manager of shipping and forecasting. He was a member of First Congregational Christian Church, and a member of VFW Post 1152. He was very active in the American Red Cross. Skip enjoyed the Indiana Repertory Theatre.
Survivors include a daughter, Susanne Mary DeBolt, Kokomo; son, William DeBolt, Fort Wayne; grandson, Luke L. DeBolt, Kokomo; brother, Richard DeBolt, Georgia; special niece, Jennifer DeBolt-Slater, Georgia; good friends, Roger Stephen and Jaynie Ribble, both of Kokomo.
He was preceded in death by parents, wife, and a sister-in-law, Carolyn DeBolt.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at First Congregational Christian Church, 505 W. Mulberry St., with Pastor Jon Tice officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery with military honors by the Kokomo VFW Military Rites Team and the United States Air Force. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., two hours prior to the service at the church.
