Gregory Dale York went home to be with the Lord at 6:05 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2017, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro, North Carolina after a long illness. Greg was born in McKinney, Texas on Dec. 10, 1962 to Norman Dale York and Mary Francis Bogue and was raised in Kokomo, and Fairbanks, Alaska.
Greg graduated from Ben Eielson High School in 1982 and went on to fulfill his life long dream of being a law enforcement officer, serving on the Carmel Police Department in Carmel, Indiana. He was medically retired in 1990. Greg was an avid hunter, fisherman and gun enthusiast.
Greg was preceded in death by his mother Mary Scoles and grandmother Juanita Parson.
He is survived by his stepfather, Dean Scoles; brother, Richard York (Brittany and Jared); sister, Linda Hayden (Daniel and Sarah); uncle, Max Coombs (Janelle, Ben, Jason and Eric); as well as several great nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hour will be Monday from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. at Hasler & Stout Funeral Home located at 112 E. Main St. Greentown, followed by a graveside memorial with police honors by the Carmel Police Department located at Greenlawn Cemetery 50 N. & County Road 780 E. Greentown.
