Frances Jean Smeltzer, 88, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2017, at Hoosier Village Retirement Center in Indianapolis.She was born June 3, 1928, in Massillon, Ohio, to Walter and Winifred (Savage) Eisinger, On Nov. 22, 1952, she married Ronald L. Smeltzer, who died June 27, 1998.
Frances graduated from Kokomo High School in 1946 and received a B.S. and M.S. in education from Indiana University. She retired as a kindergarten teacher from Kokomo School Corp.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, John and Anne Smeltzer, Carmel; two daughters, Suzanne Smeltzer, Westfield, and Pam Smeltzer, Noblesville; six grandchildren, Amy Crouch, Indianapolis, Diane Crouch, New Orleans, Louisiana, Laura (Phil) Dermody, Nashville, Tennessee, John Walaszek, New York, New York, and Will and Nick Smeltzer, Carmel; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Lewis Matuszewich, Chicago; and brother-in-law, Rex Smeltzer, Kokomo.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother and sister-in-law, Don and Joan Eisinger.
