Eva Mae Hubbard-Smith, 90, Kokomo, passed away at 2:56 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2017, at her home. She was born Feb. 25, 1927, in New Castle, the daughter of the late Rev. James A. and Frances (Whited) Sutherland. On Dec. 30, 1946, she married the Rev. Benjamin Hubbard, who preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 1997. On Aug. 29, 2000, she married Lawrence Smith, and he survives.
Eva graduated from Union Bible Academy in Westfield. She was previously employed with J.C. Penney's for several years and Felt Office Supplies. Eva was an active member of the Carpenter's House Church. Her life and her passion was her family and music, as she was a pianist for several churches.
In addition to her husband, Eva is survived by her siblings, Paul (Katrina) Sutherland, Kokomo, Carolyn Street, Kokomo, and Peggy (Charlie) Durbin, Galveston; and brother-in-law, James (Betty) Hubbard, North Carolina.
Eva was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, and siblings, Charles Sutherland, Jim Sutherland, Marie Fowler, Marilyn Forkner, and Sara Rood.
The family would like to give a very special thank you to North Woods Commons, Guardian Angel Hospice, and sister Carolyn Street for the care they showed Eva during her illness.
A graveside service will be at 2:15 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017, in Crown Point Cemetery in Kokomo, with Pastor Paul Sutherland officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road.
