Emma's Story

Emma G. Hood, 83, Kokomo, passed away at 1:10 a.m. Sunday, March 5, 2017, at her residence. She was born Dec. 10, 1933, in Kokomo to the late Mr. and Mrs. Colvin. She married Robert James Hood on June 16, 1949, and he preceded her death in 1990.
Emma was a homemaker who was very devoted to her children and family. She enjoyed reading and studying the Bible. Emma was a member of the Apostolic Lighthouse Church.
Surviving are her five daughters, Debbie Coram, Susie (Dennis) Purvis, Robin (Steve) Brock, Edie (Mick) Hood-Droke, and Sandy (Rich) Hughes ; 19 grandchildren, Illiana (Cory) Walter, Edriana Hood, Chastity (Brian) Kidwell, Jason Hood, Robbie Hood, Marketta (Josh) Tarrant, Dawn (Jason) Carver, Jacqueline Haynes, Farrah (Kevin) Spangler, Brandi (Chris) Watson, Jeremaiah Hood, Brent (Katie) Crow, Brian (Ashley) Crow, Kevin (Crystal ) Purvis, Melissa (Scott) Hullinger, Matthew (Chasity) Brock, Braiden Hood, Kayla Jo Hood, and Linzi (Eric) Newman; many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, Robert; five sons, Tim, Mark, Bob, Andy, and Kevin Hood; and grandson, Chad Purvis.
Emma's family would like to thank the staff of Great Lakes Hospice for all the care and compassion.
The funeral service for Emma will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 9, 2017, at Apostolic Lighthouse Church, 616 Touby Pike, with Pastor Joe David Wampler officiating. Emma's family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 11 a.m. Thursday until the time of service, also at the church.
