Douglas Richard McClure, 69, Kokomo, passed away at 12:38 a.m. Wednesday May 3, 2017, at his residence. Born July 30, 1947, in Dayton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Howard McClure and Louise (Howell) McClure.
He was a graduate of Western High School and had attended Indiana University-Kokomo. He was a veteran serving in the United States Army. He was employed with Chrysler until 1980. He then worked as a nuclear power plant inspector for Virginia Power and Light. He then worked in radio advertising in Virginia before retiring. He loved music, enjoyed camping and fishing and spending time with his children, playing with his grandkids, and traveling. He also attended First EPC Church and was a member of the Rotary Club in Virginia.
Survivors include one son, Douglas A. McClure, Kokomo; one daughter, Michelle R. McClure, Kokomo; one sister, Candace McClure, Fort Myers, Florida; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a friend, Betty McClure-Brockwell.
A celebration of life will be 4 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Ellers Mortuary Webster Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St., with Pastor Charles Riley officiating and with full military rites conducted by the United States Army and VFW Military Rites Team. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of service Thursday, also at the mortuary.
