Dorris's Story

Dorris Waddell Martin, 90, Russiaville, passed away at 8:15 a.m. Sunday, March 5, 2017, at North Woods Village in Kokomo. She was born Aug. 31, 1926, in Galveston, to Ellis A. and Ruth (Myers) Reeves. On Nov. 25, 1951, she married Robert M. Waddell in Galveston, and he preceded her in death April 18, 1973. On April 3, 1985, she married Eugene "Red" Martin, and he preceded her in death on July 27, 1990.
Dorris graduated from Galveston High School in 1944. She had worked at Wasson's, J.C. Penney's, Williams Patch in Russiaville and also with her husband, Bob, in the family business. She enjoyed sewing, canning, flower gardening, watching and feeding birds and cooking for family. Dorris and her husband, Bob, were very active in the Russiaville Little League for several years. She was a former member of Lynn Friends Church and had also attended Russiaville Friends Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Myrna (Junior) Claar, Russiaville; son, Roger (Lynn) Waddell, Russiaville; grandchildren, Stephanie (Ray) Collins, Adam (Lindsay) Waddell, Fred Claar and Michael Claar; great-grandchildren, Braylon Collins, Cameren Collins, Alexis Collins, Anthony Collins, Lane Waddell, Halle Waddell, Zane Claar, Kelsey Peletti and Chloe Bradley; two great-great-grandchildren; niece, Ruth (Claude) Vawter; and nieces and nephews, Red and Louise's children, Ed (Saralyn) Martin, Judy Bearden, Vaughn Martin, Anita (Mike) Kanable and Max (Gloria) Martin and their families.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Wilma (Dale) Robertson and Bessie Reeves; sister-in-law, Louise Martin; and nephew, Tony (Roxanne) Robertson.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, with Pastor Jamie Lyon officiating. Burial will follow in Russiaville Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
