Delbert Wayne Burge, 83, Kokomo, passed away at 3:31 p.m. Saturday, April 29, 2017, at his residence. Born Dec. 4, 1933, in Cass County, he was the son of the late Roy Burge and Rachel (Haworth) Burge. On Sept. 17, 1955, he married Viola I. Mortz. She preceded him in death Nov. 4, 2003.
He was employed at Stellite, then at Chrysler for 17 years before retiring. He was a member of UAW Local 1166. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, woodworking, and tinkering around in his garage.
Survivors include one son, Timothy (Robin) Burge, Brookston; four daughters, Debra L. Borgina, Diana L. Burge, and Darlene L. Murphy, all of Kokomo, and Michelle (Mark) Rudd, New London; one brother, Bob (Linda May) Burge, Kokomo; three sisters, Katie (John) Young, Mary Fields, and Kay Oglageo, all of Kokomo; 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a son-in-law, Don "Duck" Murphy; two brothers, David Burge and Donny Burge; two sisters, Betty Bean and Linda Dale.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2017, at Ellers Mortuary, Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St. Pastor David Osborne will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.
