Charles R. "Charlie" Black, 69, Kokomo, passed away at 7:45 p.m. Monday, June 26, 2017 at St. Vincent Kokomo. He was born April 21, 1948 in Kokomo to Ray and Eva F. (McQuiston) Black.
Charlie began working for Lee Burton at Kokomo Ready Mix in the 70s. He later worked for Stan Mohr at Mohr Construction for 30 years. At the time of his death he worked for Mitzi Mortz at Mortz Mechanical. Each of the special people he worked for took Charlie under their wing and helped him in many ways. Charlie also loved working with Dan Hahn at Southside Little League, mowing and striping the lot. Charlie worked hard at all he did. He will be remembered as ambitious, kind, loyal, genuine and dependable. Charlie also attended Temple Baptist church and loved the Lord.
He is survived by sisters, Jane (Bob) Heath and Rose Becraft; brother, John William Black Sr.; several nieces and nephews; as well as several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ernest Black; and a nephew, Mark Likens.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, with Pastor Dr. Jim Willoughby officiating. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
