Bryan Thurmond, 87, Greentown, passed away at 4:22 p.m. Friday, April 28, 2017, at St. Vincent Kokomo. He was born May 28, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia, to William Bryan Thurmond Sr. and Ada Bell (Anderson) Thurmond. He graduated from Greentown High School in 1948. He retired from Delco Electronics in 1994 after 45 years of service. Bryan loved and owned horses all his life and collected Cockshutt tractors.
He is survived by a son, Bryan Helm, Kokomo; sister, Katie Lee Park and husband Walter, Vera Beach, Florida; brother, Harold Thurmond and wife Hazel, Kokomo; grandson, Joshua Helm of Hawaii; granddaughter, Taylor Helm, Alabama; and a very special friend, Esther Cheek, Kokomo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lila Smith.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at Hasler-Stout Funeral Home, 112 E. Main St., Greentown, with Pastor Steve Cole officiating. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Tuesday, two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
