Betty's Story

Betty Jean (Roberts) Oldham, Indianapolis, passed away Friday, March 17, 2017. She was born Feb. 2, 1917, to Martin and Laura (Coffin) Roberts in Greenfield. She graduated from Westland High School in 1935, and later attended Indiana Business College. In 1938 Betty married G. Robert Oldham, D.V.M., prior to moving to Dayton, Ohio, where Bob served as city veterinarian for the city of Dayton. Betty and Bob were married for 76 years. Bob preceded her in death in March 2015.
They had three sons, Richard Oldham (Patricia), Battle Creek, Michigan, Roger Oldham, M.D., (Susan), Potomac, Maryland, and Stephen Oldham (Diane), Mount Prospect, Illinois; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
In 1941 they moved to Kokomo, (Wawpecong) Indiana, where Betty assisted her husband in his veterinary practice for 25 years.
Following their 25 years in Wawpecong, they moved to Indianapolis, where they were members of the First Church of the Nazarene.
For many years in Indianapolis, Betty was secretary and building manager to a medical group on North Meridian Street.
Visitation and funeral services will be Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at Stillinger Funeral Home, 1780 W. Main St., Greenfield. Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m., and funeral services will be 11:30 at the funeral home, with entombment immediately following at Washington Park East Cemetery.
