William "Bill" F. Pope Jr., 71, Russiaville, passed away at 1:52 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017, at St. Vincent Heart Center in Indianapolis. He was born Oct. 17, 1946, in Louisville, Kentucky, to William F. Pope Sr. and Mildred (Hiestand) Pope. On Oct. 18, 1969, Bill married Margaret A. Heitkamper, and she survives.
Bill was a 1966 Valley High School graduate and received an associate degree from UEI of Louisville, Kentucky. Bill also served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1969 as a radio repairman. He worked for Delco Electronics as a tool and die maker, retiring in 2006. Bill was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, loved reading, camping and traveling by train to see museums, national monuments and national parks. He was our cherished husband and father.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret A. Pope, Russiaville; daughters, Elizabeth (Byron) McClain, Emily (Eric) Name; sisters, Mary Ann Vowels, Margaret Lynn Noland; brothers, Thomas A. (Pam) Pope, Charles E. (Nancy) Pope; grandchildren, Daniel, Wesley, Audra; and many nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William F. Pope Sr. and Mildred Pope.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, with Pastor Jason Grant officiating. Burial will follow at New London Cemetery with military honors. Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
