William "Bill" D. Newman, 74, Westfield, passed away at 6:05 a.m. Friday, July 14, 2017, at Waterford Place Health Campus in Kokomo, Indiana. He was born Nov. 20, 1942, in Miami County, Indiana, the son of the late Robert and Bessie (Echelbarger) Newman.
At the time of his death, he lived with his girlfriend, Debby Elliot (Moon), in Westfield, Indiana. William was a graduate of Clay Township High School. He worked as a journeyman lineman for Public Service, a supervisor for N.G. Gillbert Corp., Dillard Smith Construction Co., and Paramont Grading. His passion was horses, including barrel racing and horse racing. William was also a horse farrier and blacksmith. He was an avid basketball fan and enjoyed talking with his brother, Bob, by phone about the games.
William is survived by his daughters, Lesa JoAnn (Bruce) Baldwin, Burlington, Indiana, and Lora "Lori" Denise (Stan) Williams, Macy, Indiana; stepdaughters, Priscilla Sue (John) Chappell, Laurie (Buck) Wardle, and Carol (Randy) Holt; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandkids; siblings, Robert (Laura) Newman, Mooresville, Indiana, Jo Ellen (Doug) Ivester, Dalton, Georgia, and Michael (Kathy) Newman, Sante Fe, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.
William was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Priscilla Bryan Newman; and sister, Sharon Spangler.
