William David Colbert Sr., 74, Kokomo, passed away at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017, at St. Vincent Kokomo. Born April 12, 1943, in Washington, Indiana, he was the son of the late Granville Colbert and Lucille (Harvey) Colbert.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War. On July 31, 1970, in Lagro, Indiana, he married Pamela Sue (Wood), and she survives. He owned and operated William Colbert Custom Building for 45 years, retiring in 2005. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, living in the country, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Pamela Sue Colbert, Kokomo; three sons, William D. (Sarah) Colbert Jr, Dee A. (Lisa) Colbert, and Norman R. Colbert, all of Kokomo; one sister, Gerdine McDonough, Lebanon, Indiana; one brother, Larry E. (Kathy) Colbert, Florida. There are also four granddaughters, Terri, Holly, Kirstyn, and Courtney; six great-grandchildren; and one special niece, Dana Sims Osbourn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Jan Sims, Starlee Colbert, and Judy Stone; also one granddaughter, Maddlyn Colbert.
Military rites by the U.S. Army and the Kokomo Military Rites Team will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, at Ellers Mortuary, Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St., Kokomo. A memorial visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the mortuary.
